Leena, along with her live-in partner Balaji, has been accused of having defrauded Canara Bank in Chennai of Rs 19 crore and a complaint had been lodged with the Chennai commissioner of police.
Leena and Balaji took money from the bank supposedly for projects and later absconded. The couple has been booked for cheating, conspiracy and breach of trust.
The two were living at a farmhouse in Delhi for the past 30 days, paying rent at a rate of Rs 4 lakh a month. The police also found several expensive cars at the location during the arrest. Leena is a dental science graduate from Dubai, where her parents live. The Delhi Police, which assisted its counterparts from Chennai in nabbing the duo, booked four of her bodyguards for possession of illegal arms.
“The arms were issued on a valid licence in Chennai which, however, is not valid in Delhi,” said a Delhi Police officer. The duo had been staying at a farmhouse in Fatehpur Beri for at least a month. The Delhi Police said they were in the process of ascertaining how the actress and her live-in partner had managed to procure these expensive cars and whether these had been bought with money that the duo had allegedly cheated from the bank in Chennai.
