The Delhi Police have called former Haryana minister Gopal Kanda, who also owns the MDLR group, for questioning on Wednesday in connection with the suicide of 23-year-old former air hostess Geetika Sharma.
To tighten the noose around Kanda and others named in the FIR, police have also added section 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code in the existing FIR.
"A legal advisor of MDLR group, Ankit Ahluwalia, was called for questioning on Tuesday and Kanda is expected to join the probe on Wednesday.
Aruna Chadha, HR manager of MDLR, was in touch with us and reached Bharat Nagar police station on Tuesday evening to record her statement," said a senior police officer, requesting anonymity.
"I received a notice from Delhi Police at 6 am and I am heading to Delhi to join the investigation. As soon as the inquiry is over, I will let the media know all the facts," said Aruna Chaddha, while briefing media in Gurgaon on Tuesday.
She claimed that she will emerge innocent in the investigation.
Sources said that after the interrogation of Ahluwalia, the section of criminal intimidation was added in the FIR as call details confirmed that they were calling Geetika.
"Family members were claiming that Geetika had received a call from Ahluwalia, hours before she committed suicide. It has been established that they were threatening the family," the officer added.
Gopal Kanda's personal secretary Devkant Sharma also confirmed that Kanda will join the investigation on Wednesday.
A three-member team visited the victim's house and took statements of family members. The family is also demanding an inquiry by the Central Bureau of Investigation into the case and wanted the former minister to be arrested soon.
"We want a probe by CBI and stricter punishment for Kanda and other accused," Ankit Sharma, victim's brother said.
A former airhostess with Kanda’s now defunct MDLR Airlines, Geetika was found dead at her Ashok Vihar residence on Sunday.
