An airhostess was allegedly molested on board an aircraft on Thursday and the police have arrested a businessman.

The police said that the alleged incident took place on a Delhi-bound flight coming from Bangkok. The accused, a resident of Punjab, misbehaved with the airhostess when she refused him alcohol. The police identified him as Ajay Grover, a resident of Phagwara. He had gone to Bangkok on a business trip.

“The accused had already consumed his share of alcohol as permitted by the airlines and he demanded more. When the victim denied him the drinks he started misbehaving with her,” said a senior police officer.

The police said that the accused even tried to physically assault her and created a row in the aircraft.

The victim narrated the incident to other crewmembers who tried to reason with the accused but he also reportedly started misbehaving with them. The police said that the accused was arrested as soon as the flight arrived at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport.

“The cabin crew had informed us and we took the accused in custody as soon as the flight arrived. He told us that he lost his cool as he was drunk and was apologetic about the incident,” added the officer.

Only a fortnight ago two businessmen from Rajasthan were arrested for allegedly misbehaving with two airhostesses aboard a Go Air flight. The airhostesses told the police that the two men were unnecessarily harassing them on some ground or the other.
