Akhilesh meets PM for funds

Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday demanded smooth transfer of funds from the centre for effective implementation of major schemes like Mahatama Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA).

Yadav, in his first formal meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, also raised the issue of supply of coal and improvement of infrastructure in the state.
He was assured of all "due" help for development of the state.

“We have not demanded any package for the state. It was a good meeting with the Prime Minister. A host of issues related to UP, including MNREGA, roads, problems,” Yadav told the media after meeting.
