Himank Sharma, a 2009 passout of journalism honours at Delhi College of Arts and Commerce was pleasantly surprised his results had been declared before July.
"I really wanted to know whether I had obtained first division in my graduation," he said. "I thought the results would take at least a month more to be declared. But I am relieved they have been declared."
Sharma, like hundreds of others, got his results early this year thanks to the compulsory central evaluation of answer scripts. This is unlike earlier, when students would have to wait as long as the end of August to get their results. This resulted in inconvenience for several students, who were unable to take admission in courses, as their results were awaited.
"Earlier, teachers would take answer sheets home and correct them there, said M.M. Rehman, dean (examinations). “However, this year we made it we made it clear to teachers that in order to correct copies they would have to be present at one of the 19 evaluation centers in the city. All of them were given a time slot, by the end of which they were supposed to submit the copies.”
“Thanks to this system, we received all answer copies on time, so were able to declare results of most courses. Now, results of all courses, except BA and B.Com Pass, have been declared. By the end of the month, we will not have any course with result awaited."
