The sale of forms for the current admission season is coming to end at Delhi University's two most sought-after colleges.
But with the nearing of deadlines at St Stephen's and Jesus and Mary College (JMC), the anticipation of the parents is at a palpable high.
At JMC, with June 8 as the last date of sale of prospectus and submission of completed forms, the chaos was visible with submission of forms being permitted only till 1pm.
"We accept forms only within the college working hours and counters close at 1pm. Students need to fill in the forms and submit them within these hours to avoid missing the deadline. We cannot extend any deadlines at the behest of parents or students," said Amita Tiwari, assistant professor, Jesus and Mary College.
The students and parents, however, feel that the time that they have been provided is insufficient to complete the formalities for admission.
"The college's OMR form is very complicated and there are two such forms that need to be filled. If a person buys the college form at 12:45pm, it is humanly impossible to complete and submit it by 1pm," said Amol Mehta, who was waiting with his daughter to submit the form. He also appealed to the college to extend the submission time but to no avail.
"There are so many applicants to the college. I think the college should increase the number of submission counters to avoid this kind of a daily chaos," said Isha Sharma, an applicant to the college.
While a similar process is being followed at St. Stephen's College, authorities maintain that so far they have not witnessed any chaos regarding sale and submission of forms.
"Our counters open at 9:30am and forms are accepted till 3:30pm because students keep filing into college till the last minute," said KM Mathew, Tutor of Admissions, St. Stephen's College.
