A 40-year-old havaldar of the Indian Army has been arrested for allegedly raping her 15-year-old daughter in Naraina area of southwest Delhi.

Police said that a retired brigadier from the area had lodged a complaint against the havaldar. The girl was not able to lodge a complaint herself as her father had threatened her.

“The victim first told a woman staying in the neighbourhood about the incident who approached a brigadier after which a complaint with the police was registered,” a senior police officer.

The police added that the father, a resident of Madhya Pradesh used to live here alone.

However, fifteen days back he brought his daughter with him to Delhi where he is posted for the past few months.

The police added that after the complaint, a medical examination of the victim was done and rape was confirmed.

The accused lives in the COD complex in Naraina area. A case has been registered at the local police station in this regard and investigations are on, police said.

The girl has been sent to an NGO and her family informed about the incident, southwest district deputy commissioner K Jagdeshan said.
