A 19-year-old man was stabbed to death allegedly by two unidentified assailants in outer Delhi's Alipur area late on Friday night.
Police said are personal enmity or robbery could be the motives behind the murder. Sources said the assailants robbed the victim of his cash after stabbing him in his thigh with a knife.
The incident took place at around 11pm when the victim, identified as Amit Kumar, was returning to his rented accommodation in Tigri village, police said.
According to a senior police officer, Kumar — a native of Fatehpur district in Uttar Pradesh — worked at a private factory in Alipur. On Friday night, he was returning home when two assailants waylaid him at an isolated place and stabbed him.
Kumar was bleeding profusely and was spotted by a passerby too late.
"They fled from the spot after robbing Kumar. He was bleeding profusely and was spotted by a passerby who made a call to the police control room. A PCR van rushed Kumar to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Doctors said he died due to excessive bleeding," the senior police officer said.
A case of murder has been registered at the Alipur police station and investigators are making efforts to ascertain the reason behind the murder.
"Personal enmity could not be ruled out even though the victim was robbed. We are probing the case from all angles," the officer said, adding the police have detained some persons and are questioning them in connection with the murder.
