Government schools in Delhi emerged as the best in the country, obtaining the highest pass rate of 88.65 per cent in the class 12 CBSE results declared on Monday.
They improved on their performance from last year, with the pass percentage increasing almost by a per cent from 2012’s 87.72%.
A total of 109 schools achieved a result of 100 per cent as compared to last year’s 78 schools. “The students have performed very well. This is a result of providing the much-needed motivation to the children and teachers at these schools and trying to increase facilities for them. This year, we conducted special classes for weak students and provided special support material to them,” said Kiran Walia, Delhi education minister.
Ankit Saini from Rajkiya Pratibha Vikas Vidhyalaya (RPVV), Dwarka, emerged the overall as well as commerce topper among government schools, securing 97.4 per cent.
Science student Lalita lakra from SV Co-ed, Paschim Vihar, topped her stream with 96.2 % whereas the top position in Humanities was shared by Momina Sheikh from Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Shakti Nagar, and Diksha from SKV, SP Road, Nangloi, with 95.2 %.
Taruna from SKV, Shadi Khampur. topped the vocational stream with 92.8 %.The Delhi government’s education department said four government schools appeared in CBSE’s top 100 Delhi-NCR schools’ list with RPVV Dwarka on the 18th position, RPVV Rohini on the 79th, RPVV Gandhi Nagar on 80th and RPVV Surajmal on the 91st position. Delhi’s Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) also did well, achieving a pass percentage of 97.56 % this year A total of 1,39,003 students appeared in the CBSE class XII exams from Delhi’s government schools this year.
