BJP on Tuesday expressed “disappointment” at the reply of Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee on the budget discussion, saying “the speech time was wasted”.
“We feel that the speech time was wasted in the House and Finance Minister disappointed us and seemed more interested in his party’s history,” BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain told reporters in New Delhi on Tuesday.
The speech was wasted in comparing the UPA rule with the NDA regime and there was no attempt to answer the questions raised by the Opposition, he alleged.
“There was no mention of the farmer suicides, there was no mention of the job losses,” he said.
“This coalition came to power with a promise of one crore new jobs and now it is bidding farewell by making more 1.5 crore people jobless. UPA has been a big failure,” Hussain said.
He said that while the country was facing an economic crisis, the UPA has failed to come up with a “credible solution” to the problem.
