A 30-year-old man was crushed to death by a Blueline bus at Mangolpuri in Outer Delhi on Wednesday night. The bus was plying on route number 808 between Mangolpuri and Tilak Nagar.

Unlike in many other accidents in which errant drivers escaped from the spot, this time the driver and conductor of the bus showed courage and took the victim to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. According to the police, the accident took place around 8 pm in D block near a Mother Dairy booth.

The police said that the victim, identified as Nand Kishore, a resident of Mangolpuri, was returning home from his office on his scooter, when the Blueline bus hit him from behind.

"Eyewitnesses said the victim fell off the scooter and received multiple injuries. He was taken to the Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital where he died," said a police officer.

The police refuted the claims that the driver took the victim to the hospital. "They were trying to run from the spot and were caught by local people in the process," said a senior police officer.

The bus driver, Raj Kumar, was arrested and booked for rash and negligence driving. The victim's body was later sent to a government hospital for post mortem.
