Building plans will be cleared online in New Delhi areas in 30 days

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has decided to approve building plans online.
The Online Building Plan Approval and Management System (OBPAMS), which will be opened for residents from Monday, will remove the tedious process of manual submissions of building plans and taking clearances.
“This online system is a hassle free portal, which will provide a single window for obtaining all approvals. Now people will not have to run to multiple agencies for getting approvals. Everything has been integrated into a single system,” said Naresh Kumar, NDMC chairman.
At present to obtain a licence, an applicant first has to submit hardcopies of the application along with verified documents. The authorities then conduct a site inspection and the drawings of the site are verified by the officials. The applicant also needs to take separate approvals from external agencies such as the Delhi Fire Services and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation.
After submitting the payment, the license is finally issued. The entire process takes at least 60 days.
The new system, however, will allow the applicant to submit the form online, where the clearances from all the agencies and site approval will be digitised.
After the process is completed, the applicant will be informed through SMS and sent an email alert before the final approval is sent. The process will be completed in 30 days, officials said.
A specialised team has been formed to get people acquainted to the online process.
“The payment, submission and clearance of site plans, and issuance of license, will be online. The calculation of the dues will also be mechanised to remove any errors. The aim is to make the process transparent, fair and quick,” said Kumar.
