In the backdrop of an anticipated Cabinet reshuffle, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh called on President Pratibha Patil on Friday. The President is leaving for a week-long trip to Hyderabad on Saturday. The reshuffle is expected to take place after she returns on July 8.

A Rashtrapati Bhavan statement said the meeting lasted for 45 minutes, during which the two leaders discussed the current political situation and the monsoon session of Parliament which starts from August 1. “They also discussed various other issues of national and international importance,” the statement said, raising speculation that the issues discussed could have included the lokpal bill.
