The national capital is on high alert and security across the city has been stepped up, following the arrest of an alleged terrorist in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday.
Metro stations, railway stations, market places, malls, community centers, courts and Parliament have massive deployment of security personnel, while several teams of the riot control force, paramilitary force, commandos and the battalions have also been kept in reserve.
“Intensive checks at all public places including the airport, railway and metro stations are being carried out. All central government offices, including the ministries along with all sensitive installations, have been put on high alert. Since August 15 is just a week away, the police are on its toes to ensure no untoward incident occurs. We request the people to be alert,” police said.
Police said the station house officers (SHOs) of all 181 police stations here have been directed to increase patrolling in their areas.
Meanwhile, security has been tightened at police stations as well.
Sources said the staff at the police headquarters has been instructed to check all vehicles entering the premises as well those already parked there.
“All staff members, including the clerical staff, have been asked to wear uniforms for easy identification.”
