Two people have died because of dengue so far. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Thursday received the test report of an 11-year-old girl who had died at New Delhi's Safdarjung hospital late on Tuesday evening. The report confirmed she was suffering from dengue.
In July, an eight-year-old boy had died of the disease at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
Three suspected dengue deaths have also been reported to the civic agency. The MCD is awaiting their confirmatory reports.
According to MCD officials and doctors, the numbers are going to rise further as Delhi has witnessed unusually heavy rain in the last 15 years.
