Delhi Police have arrested a juvenile who was involved in the burglary at the house of Harish Khare, media advisor to Prime Minister.
Police said two juveniles and a man identified as Rohit were involved in the burglary. The trio had entered Khare’s Sham Nath Marg house near Civil Lines and taken his laptop, mobile phone and car. Police have recovered the Ford Fiesta car, which the burglars had kept in a parking in Nehru Vihar area of north Delhi.
“We received a complaint from Khare’s wife about the theft. As per the complaint, when they woke up they found that the balcony door was open and one laptop, one BlackBerry phone and the car key were missing. Later, they found that the car, which was parked in the compound, was also stolen,” said IB Rani, DCP (north).
A CCTV camera installed outside the ATM booth of Dena Bank located near the house gave police some clue about the persons involved in the crime.
“The CCTV footage revealed the movement of two persons inside the compound during late night. One of the persons was captured in the footage carrying a laptop. Photographs were prepared from the footage and we managed to identify them. Immediately, teams were sent to trace the car,” Rani added.
The juvenile was inside the car and when the police team asked him to come out, he refused. To nab him police had to break the glass of the car.
Juvenile’s interrogation revealed that two more persons were also involved. “We still have to recover the laptop and the said phone. On formal search two phones and cash of Rs 4,500 were recovered from the juvenile. The other two will be apprehended soon,” Rani added.
