Thieves allegedly struck at the house of a sales executive house in east Delhi and decamped with cash and valuables amounting to R10 lakh on Tuesday night. The incident occurred in Mayur Vihar area.
“The incident occurred at the house of Vijay Chaudhary (26), a sales executive. It was reported from his home in Rajbir Nagar in Mayur Vihar Phase III,” said a senior police officer on the condition of anonymity, as he was not authorised to speak to the media.
According to police, the thieves broke into the house of the victims through the rooftop. “We all were sleeping on second floor. My father Mahavir Singh, mother Shakuntala Nagar and two younger brothers, Ajay and Vikash, were sleeping on the first floor in three different rooms,” said Chaudhary.
Police said on Wednesday morning at 6 am, Shakuntala, after opening her room, found the house ransacked. The police said the almirahs in the room were opened with a crowbar. The family then called the police.
When police reached the spot they found that cash and jewellery worth Rs 10 lakh was missing. “We are investigating into the matter. The prima facie seems that someone insider may be involved in the incident,” said the police officer.
