A 19-year-old student from a private school in West Patel Nagar lodged a complaint against his school teacher accusing him of beating him up and damaging his eardrum.
Police said the incident allegedly took place on August 3 and the FIR was registered on August 8 after a medical examination of the complainant revealed that his injuries were due to a physical assault.
A case has been registered at Patel Nagar police station against the school teacher, identified as Kiran Pal. He teaches political science. Pal is yet to be arrested, said a police officer.
According to the complaint, Pal had slapped the 19-year-old, a student of Class XII, after he caught him doing his English homework in class. The student claimed the political science class had just begun and he was doing his English homework when the teacher entered the classroom.
“The class began but the boy continued doing his homework. Pal went near him and grabbed his notebook. He was trying to throw it on the floor when the student objected and it made him angry,” said the police officer quoting the victim’s complaint.
Pal then allegedly started beating up the student and slapped him several times. The boy told the teacher that he will complain against him to the school principal, the officer added.
The student claimed he tried to leave the classroom when the school teacher caught hold of him and slapped him on his left ear. After school, the boy went home and told his mother about severe pain in his left ear.
His family took him to a private clinic where the doctors told them that his eardrum had been damaged. The student’s family then approached the Patel Nagar police station and filed a complaint.
