The Combined Aptitude Test for English (CATE) for admission to English (H) will be held on June 9.
This year, 21 colleges have become part of the test. "This year, Deshbandu College has pulled out while Satyawati College (Morning) has joined," said Tapan Basu, coordinator, CATE. Popular colleges such as Hindu College, Lady Shri Ram College, Kirori Mal College, Miranda House, Kamla Nehru College and Indraprastha College for Women are already part of the test.
The sale of forms will start on May 25 at all colleges that are part of the test and can be bought and submitted till June 4. This year the eligibility criteria for writing the exam have been relaxed. General category students require 45 per cent marks in best four subjects in Class 12 instead of the 60 per cent required last year. Eligibility for OBC category is 40.5 per cent and 40 per cent for the physically challenged. Students from SC/ST categories must have passing marks in the class 12 examination. The duration of the test has been increased from one-and-a-half hours to two hours.
