The Congress in Delhi is getting in election mode. AICC general secretary Mukul Wasnik took over charge of Delhi on Friday ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.
Wasnik, in a pep talk to party workers, made clear that those who perform will be rewarded, but those who work against the party’s interest would not be overlooked either. “You will have to ensure that all party workers are given some responsibility and they live up to it. Those who do well should be rewarded, others should be admonished behind closed doors,” he said.
Adding that the party was going to polls on the plank of the UPA government’s development work, Wasnik told workers to ensure the message was brought home to the voters. Most senior party leaders, including DPCC president Jai Prakash Aggarwal, MPs Jagdish Tytler, Sajjan Kumar and Krishna Tirath, attended.
Delhi’s election office will soon launch a drive to identify people who have names on voters’ lists at two different places.
Chief electoral officer Satbir Silas Bedi said police case would be registered against people with duplicate names. Voters’ lists of bordering towns will also be matched to identify duplicate entries.
