Former RSS Pracharak K N Govindacharya on Wednesday slammed the Congress' effort to defend Emergency in its book 'Making of the Indian Nation' and described it as a very shallow political stance by the ruling party.
"The book is nothing but a very shallow political stance taken by Congress. It is an effort to defend the Emergency, which cannot be defended", Govindacharya said in New Delhi.
He was speaking on the sidelines of a press meet organised to give details about the 'Bharat vikas sangam' -- a movement aimed at devising methods on how to make the lives of common people prosperous.
Govindacharya also dubbed as "unjust" the Congress party's evaluation of the Jayprakash movement, saying, "It is a deviation from the truth and the statement that it was a foreign-inspired movement is such an unjust comment".
Asked for his views on senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh's statements linking RSS with the 26/11 Mumbai terror strikes, Govindacharya said, "Digvijay's statements are nothing but a political stance taken by Congress. They are trying to create a bogey out of RSS for minority vote bank appeasement".
