Besides this, traffic cops have also fined 397 vehicles for using defective number plates and 15 for not carrying insurance, he said.
"During Tuesday's drive, traffic police collected a sum of Rs 1.59 lakh through challans. Maximum challans were issued at Western range followed by the northern range," Garg added.
A total of 427 challans were issued in the northern range, 453 challans issued in western range, 332 in southern range, 231 in central range and 105 in eastern range for using tinted glasses in cars, said traffic police officials.
"The drive that we have initiated on Tuesday will continue till we do away with the problem. During the drive we will also prosecute vehicles using defective number plates and not having insurance papers. For using tinted glasses and defective number plates we issue challan of R100, while for not having insurance we remand them to the court and the court penalizes them with a Rs 1,000 fine each," Garg said.
