The North Corporation has passed an order to increase the councillor’s fund from Rs. 50 lakh to Rs. 1.5 crore.

The increase was done following complaints from councillors that the existing fund was inadequate to carry out the works of individual wards. The standing committee of the corporation had passed the decision on August 23.

“The budget for North Corporation was devised simply by dividing into three the expenses allotted to the erstwhile MCD in the budget framed in February,” said the standing committee chairman Chandolia.
