The Delhi High Court on Tuesday sought a response from the city power regulator on a plea of Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited, formerly known as North Delhi Power Limited, challenging its formula for fixing multi-year tariff for power consumption.

A bench of Acting Chief Justice A K Sikri and Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw issued a notice to Delhi Electricity Regulation Commission (DERC) and sought its response by July 30.

The bench was hearing a petition challenging DERC's 2011 regulations saying provisions setting the methodology for determination of retail tariff were contrary to the Delhi Electricity Act. PTI
