'Day-dreaming' Left responsible for BJP-BJD break-up: Prasad
An angry BJP blamed "day-dreaming" Left parties for the collapse of its 11-year-long alliance with BJD in Orissa and said CM Naveen Patnaik would regret parting ways with the NDA partner ahead of the LS polls.
An angry BJP on Sunday blamed "day-dreaming" Left parties for the collapse of its 11-year-long alliance with BJD in Orissa and said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik would regret parting ways with the NDA partner ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.
"It appears that the Left parties and others day-dreaming about their post-election prospects in Delhi have misled Patnaik," party spokesperson Ravi Shanker Prasad said.
He was talking to reporters after an emergency meet of the central office bearers including party chief Rajnath Singh, L K Advani and senior leaders from the state.
"One thing is for sure that Naveen Patnaik will regret the decision," Prasad said.
He said the party "deeply saddened" over the "unilateral and ex-parte" termination of the alliance.
Reacting strongly to BJD's decision to go it alone in the Lok Sabha polls in the state, Prasad said the people of Orissa felt betrayed.
"The people of Orissa feel betrayed because they trusted the anti-congress alliance in the state," he said.
The senior BJP leader also said the party has stood with BJD in difficult times and the NDA government led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee has helped the state in its all round development and at the time of Orissa cyclone.
