The draw of lots for the Delhi Development Authority’s (DDA) housing scheme 2014 will now be held on November 10 instead of November 5, as scheduled earlier.
The delay is due to the slow pace at which data of applications are being uploaded. DDA has received more than 8.5 lakh applications for its biggest housing scheme with 25,034 flats on offer.
Raju Kumar, a businessman, has applied for the housing scheme and has been in a state of apprehension for the past fortnight. His apprehension is not about landing a flat in the draw of lots but if at all his application has been accepted.
Though the scheme was closed on October 15, details of only a few lakh applications have been uploaded on DDA’s website.
“I submitted my application on October 4 at the bank from which I financed the registration amount of Rs. 1 lakh. To date, the DDA website says no data can be found,” Kumar said. “I’m not sure if my application have been accepted at all or not,” he said.
Kumar is only one of the many lakhs of applicants who are in a state of confusion. The delay in status update of the applications also means there will be no time to rectify mistakes or shortcomings, if any.
The DDA has decided to delay the draw of lots so that applicants have sufficient time to make amends in applications if needed.
DDA vice-chairman Balvinder Kumar said the status of all applicants would be made available by October 31, while blaming the empanelled banks for the delay.
“We have given time to the banks till October 30 to put all data on website so that it is available to applicants by October 31,” he said. He said show cause notices have been issued to some banks for delaying the process.
“They were asking for time till November 5 but we have said we will take strict action if data is not updated by October 31. Once the data is uploaded, we would tell the public to check details and correct mistakes if there are any. Change in selection of flats wouldn’t be allowed though,” he said.Applicants would be given three days to verify details and banks would be given two days to rectify mistakes. “We will delay our draw if needed but applicants would be given sufficient time to make changes in applications if needed,” he said.
