A Delhi Police official on Tuesday told a court conducting the trial in a robbery case involving the December 16 gang rape accused that one of the offenders had led the investigators to the place where they had thrown the victim (a carpenter) after robbing and assaulting him.
Deposing as a prosecution witness, Delhi Police constable Nawal, who was posted at Vasant Vihar police station at the time of the incident, told Additional Sessions judge Daya Prakash: "The accused (Mukesh) led the police team to IIT flyover, Outer Ring Road, and pointed out the place where he, along with his co-accused, had thrown the complainant after robbing and beating him up."
The court which had on July 15 framed charges of kidnapping and dacoity against the four accused - Akshay Kumar Singh, Mukesh, Pawan Gupta and Vinay Sharma - recorded the statement of the witness and listed the matter for further evidence on August 13.
The accused had reportedly robbed and beaten up carpenter Ram Adhar before allegedly raping and assaulting a 23-year-old girl in a moving bus on December 16.
Besides them, a juvenile, who is facing proceedings in the gang rape and murder case before the Juvenile Justice Board, was recently convicted in the robbery case.
However, on being cross-examined by legal aid counsel Asim Ali, who appeared for the four accused, the police official denied that he was ever a part of the investigation in the case.
The court had on July 15 also framed charges against the accused for offences punishable under sections 342 (wrongfully confining any person), 394 (person voluntarily causing hurt in committing or attempting to commit robbery), 412 (dishonestly receiving stolen property knowing that it was obtained by dacoity) and 34 (common intention) of the IPC.
