Delhi’s infamous drug-and-rob gang is back to haunt the streets of the Capital.
A fortnight after a 75-year-old Pakistani was drugged, robbed and left to die at a road in east Delhi’s Ghazipur, the gang that operates on auto-rickshaws has struck again. A father-son duo became the latest victims of the gang in south Delhi’s Mahipalpur on Wednesday night.
The victims were drugged and subsequently robbed of their cash and other belongings by three members of the gang on board an auto-rickshaw that they had chartered from Mahipalpur to reach Old Delhi railway station. Police identified one of the victims as Sugriv, a Class XII student, who was found unconscious by the side of a road in west Delhi’s Raghubir Nagar area on Thursday morning.
Sugriv’s father Ram Kumar is missing and there were no clues about his whereabouts till Friday, police said. A case in this regard has been registered and police have launched a probe to net the gang.
A police officer said the victims hailed from Kushinagar district in Uttar Pradesh and were returning home when the incident took place. Kumar worked at a dairy shop in Masoodpur area near Vasant Kunj and lived in a rented accommodation.
“Sugriv had come to Delhi to enjoy his summer vacation with his father. On the fateful night, they were going to their hometown and were waiting for a bus to reach Old Delhi Railway station. A man apparently approached them and lured them to sit in an auto rickshaw in which the driver and a passenger were already present,” said the officer.
On the way, the men befriended the father-son duo and offered them a cold drink laced with sedatives.
The duo became unconscious after drinking it.
