Delhi braces for more jams as met dept expects heavy rains

Heavy rain lashed the Delhi on Sunday, with the weatherman predicting more showers in the coming days.
On Sunday, around 9.6mm of rainfall was recorded till 8.30 in the morning. The Met department said the city received another 1.8mm of rain till 5.30 in the evening.
The afternoon shower also flooded many neighbourhoods and caused traffic snarls at several places. Many roads across the city were waterlogged and traffic slowed down on a number of arterial roads.
According to the weatherman, the showers will continue for the next 3-4 days. “The weather is expected to be similar for the next couple of days. It will continue to rain till Tuesday,” a Met department official said. He added that the showers were part of monsoon rains, which is expected to stay in the city till September 15.
The maximum temperature on Sunday was recorded at 34.6 degree Celsius, which is a notch above average for this time of the year. The minimum temperature settled at 25.8 degree Celsius, a degree less than normal.
According to the Met official, Monday will be generally cloudy with chances of rain/thundershowers in some areas of the city. “The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be around 33 degree and 26 degree respectively,” he said.
