A Delhi court has framed murder charges against a man for killing his married daughter last year after allegedly being enraged over her elopement with a boy.
"In view of the statement of various witnesses coupled with ballistic experts' report, I am of the considered opinion that prima facie offences are made out against the accused," Additional Sessions Judge Bharat Parashar said in a recent order, framing murder charges against Dharampal.
The court, however, discharged his cousin Raj Prakash of the same charges after noting that no evidence had been collected to incriminate the accused with the offence.
On March 27, last year, the police recovered a woman's body from a well near golf course under Samaypur Badli police station in New Delhi. The police traced the call details of her mobile phone and discovered that the woman was Chesta.
Subsequently, it was revealed that Chesta was last seen in the company of her father.
After the police arrested Dharampal on April seven last year, he confessed his guilt disclosing that he was annoyed with Chesta as she had run away from her matrimonial home in Sonepat and started living in New Delhi with one Mahender.
The police also recovered a country-made pistol from the well, which was allegedly made available to Dharampal by his cousin Prakash, who was also arrested later.
The police also recorded the statement of a witness, who had allegedly overheard both the accused planning to kill the victim.
