A 35-year-old man — wanted in nearly two dozen criminal cases and with a reward of Rs 50,000 for his arrest — was arrested in northwest Delhi, police claimed on Tuesday.
The accused, identified as Ali Sher, was said to be among the top 10 wanted criminals in the Capital and had evaded several attempts to nab him over the last 18 months, said P Karunakaran, DCP (northwest).
“On May 21, a police team went to his native place in Bihar’s Darbangha to collect intelligence about his whereabouts. The team learnt that he would cross Lulwa Chowk. The team then took position near the chowk and apprehended him after a brief scuffle and chase,” DCP Karunakaran said.
Police said, Ali Sher had a network of informers through which he would come to know about the movement of police. He would then sneak into adjacent Nepal.
