Political parties are waiting for elections to be announced in Delhi but Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday tweeted on the possibility of the polls being held in April next year.
So far all political parties have been indicating that elections would be held in February. “Are Delhi elections being pushed to April, BJP so scared?” tweeted Kejriwal. His tweet got 834 retweets and was favourited by 480 people.
Sources said the Delhi BJP wants the elections to be held in February itself and are holding meetings daily in preparation.
“We wanted elections to be held soon after assembly was put under suspended animation but the Congress didn’t do it. Later on, after dissolving the assembly, the BJP has been delaying announcing the dates. The state unit is not confident and it is indulging in such delaying tactics,” said an AAP leader.
Kejriwal also questioned the transfer of Delhi chief electoral officer Vijay Dev to Chandigarh. Dev has been transferred to Chandigarh as adviser to the Union Territory administrator. The Union ministry of home affairs has already issued the order.
“Why has Vijay Dev, Chief Electoral Officer of Delhi, been transferred just before elections? Especially when all parties found him independent and honest?,” Kejriwal tweeted on Tuesday.
