Two men. Two different motives. And a 30-minute long shooting spree that left dead four dead and four injured. The scene of crime: northwest Delhi’s Swaroop Nagar.
At 4pm on Friday, Rajbeer Sharma, 30, a businessman and his friend Manish Sharma, 23, headed for the former’s elder brother, Kishan’s house.
Rajbeer, who has an ongoing property dispute with his brother, barged into the house and opened fire, injuring Kishan.
Their next stop was another house in the locality, where Manish’s love interest Jyoti Saini lived. Saini was engaged to be married to someone else. Manish shot her, killing her instantly.
As the two men were leaving Saini’s house, Rajbeer ran into one of his former love interests Usha Yadav, and shot her dead in a fit of anger.
Next, both of them returned to Rajbeer’s house, where he shot his daughters Khushi, 13, Rashi, four, and his wife, Pooja, police said. Khushi died, but Pooja and Rashi survived.
Soon after, the two friends tried to shoot themselves. Rajbeer died, but Manish lost balance and ended up shooting himself in the shoulder.
“Investigations are on, but a property dispute seems to be at the heart of it,” said Tejender Luthra, joint commissioner of police (northern range).
