A 17-year-old boy was allegedly stabbed to death by three juveniles in southeast Delhi’s Govindpuri area early Tuesday.
According to the police, the deceased minor was involved in several cases, including rape, and had been recently released from a correction home. One of the accused had a number of cases, including charges of murder pending against him.
On Monday night, the accused along with his two friends had met the 17-year-old victim on the pretext of solving an ongoing dispute between them. They went to the 17-year-old’s house on a scooter and asked him to follow them. The deceased along with one of his friend agreed and followed the three youths.
“The three youths then took him to a secluded spot, whipped out a knife and stabbed him. While the 17-year-old collapsed, bleeding profusely, his friend managed to escape. The accused minor stabbed the 17-year-old multiple times in the abdomen and fled,” a senior police officer said.
The friend of the 17-year-old, who had managed to escape, alerted local residents and his family members about the incident. The victim’s family later reached the spot and rushed him to the hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. “The boy had sustained deep wounds and died of blood loss. His body has been sent for post-mortem examination,” police said.
A police team was sent to nab the accused and two of the juveniles were apprehended. “During questioning, the youths confessed to have committed the murder. They stated that they had a fight with the 17-year-old a few months ago when he had insulted them. Following this, they made a plan to take revenge and called him out to settle the matter. A case in the matter has been registered and investigation is on,” the police said.
