The condition of the five-year-old rape victim is stable and she has been cured of infection, doctors at AIIMS said on Wednesday.
“The wounds of the girl are healing well, and we are examining her and dressing them regularly under general anaesthesia. She is not running fever anymore, indicating that she no longer has infection,” said Dr DK Sharma, medical superintendent, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, where the girl is undergoing treatment since Friday.
Her vital parameters are normal and she has been able to digest well the food that she has started taking orally. The girl had a proper breakfast on Tuesday and was feeling much better.
“Her urine output is normal and the colostomy, creating a passage to pass stool, is functioning well,” Dr Sharma added.
It will take about 10 days before the girl is in a condition to be discharged from the hospital.
“She would require a few corrective surgeries later on. Our primary concern is to ensure she gets back to normal health wise; we will perform corrective surgeries once she is fit,” said a senior doctor at the hospital, requesting anonymity.
