Delhi witnessed a hot day on Friday as the maximum temperature touched 43 degrees Celsius, four degrees above normal.
The minimum temperature was recorded as 27.5 degrees, two degrees above normal.
At the Palam Observatory, the maximum temperature was recorded as 44.5 degrees Celsius.
A dust storm and light rain in the evening did nothing to reduce the heat.
The humidity levels oscillated between 68% and 21%.
According to the weatherman, the maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover between 43 degrees and 27 degrees Celsius on Saturday as well.
A thunderstorm, though, is likely to take place in the evening which might bring the temperatures down by a couple of degrees on Sunday.
“On Saturday, the skies will be partly cloudy. Thunderstorm and dust storm is likely to occur,” the weatherman said.
He, however, said that no immediate relief from the heat was likely in the coming days.
The next week is expected to see temperatures in the range of 42 and 44 degrees Celsius, the Met department has predicted.
The hottest day of the season so far was recorded on May 2 when the mercury touched 44 degrees Celsius.
