The 42-year-old wife of the embassy defence attaché, who sustained serious injuries in the blast that rocked her car near the embassy on Monday afternoon, underwent surgery for multiple injuries at a private hospital in the city.
Talyeshova Koren suffered multiple splinter injuries in her spine and perforation of the liver in the incident. The driver of her Innova car, Manoj Sharma, 40, who also sustained minor injuries, showed presence of mind and pulled her out of the car, put her inside an auto on the spot and took her inside the embassy.
From there, the staff rushed her to the Primus Super-Specialty Hospital in south Delhi's Chanakya Puri.
"She was brought to us at around 3.50pm and the preliminary assessment showed multiple injuries in her spine and liver. A team of neurosurgeons and general surgeons operated on her," said a hospital spokesperson.
The three other people injured in the incident, including her driver, were taken to New Delhi's Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital. All three had sustained minor glass-splinter injuries and were kept under observation in the hospital's emergency after being give the first-aid.
"All three received minor injuries due to the glass shards that had pierced through their skin. The driver had a small cut above the right eye, near the eye-brow; and the other two persons received a minor cut on the cheek and forearm respectively," said Dr TS Sidhu, medical superintendent of the hospital.
