Delhi Metro on Friday held a workshop to train metro station staff on how to handle women and children who have been abandoned at Metro stations.

The workshop, held at the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation's training school in Shastri Park, was attended by all station managers and assistant station managers. Senior DMRC officials and experts from an NGO dealing with such issues addressed the employees.

"There were sessions on the necessary communication skills for interacting with the abandoned people, immediate liaison with police and other concerned agencies and rehabilitation of the destitute in secured environs," said the spokesperson. Experts from an NGO also made an in-depth presentation about the ways in which immediate help and assistance can be provided in such cases.
