Don't expect let-up in rains soon: Met dept

However, the drizzle could not dampen the festive spirit of Eid. Hundreds of devotees offered prayers at the historic Jama Masjid on Friday morning. "The weather was just amazing. The only issue was that we had to sit on slush covered with plastic sheets while offering prayers at Jama Masjid," said 22-year-old Miraj Ahmed.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi's central control room received a number of complaints of waterlogging, falling of trees. It also received three complaints of portions of buildings collapsing.

The maximum temperature was recorded at 32 degree Celsius while the minimum was at 26.7 degree Celsius. The maximum humidity was 95 per cent, while minimum was 85 per cent.

According to the Met department officials, there will no let up in the rain on Sunday and Monday.

The city may witness light storms as well. The situation might improve in the middle of next week. With water entering low-lying areas of the city, 74 boats and 68 divers have been pressed into service.

The Delhi traffic police are likely to go ahead with its lane trials from Monday, despite the adverse weather conditions.
