A Ghaziabad school has managed one of the biggest faux pas by hoisting the national flag upside down.
The district administration on Monday received a complaint that Delhi Public School, Ghaziabad, had shown disrespect the national flag.
The school staff had left without realising the mistake after they hoisted the national flag but some mediapersons noticed the mistake and called up the school authorities and officials from the district administration.
Officials said they are now sending a show-cause notice to the school administration on alleged disrespect to the national flag.
“We received information that the flag hoisted at the school was upside down and the school administration did not notice the mistake. We are investigating the matter and will definitely take action against those responsible,” said Ghaziabad district magistrate Deepak Aggarwal.
A security guard of the school said the school’s administrative officer, R.K. Sharma, reached the school about 2 p.m. and got the position of the flag corrected.
“We have not done this intentionally. This was a mistake and we did not have any intention to dishonour the national flag. Our security staff at the school informed us about the faux pas. We will take action against the people who have done this,” said Sharma.
School principal Rita Kapoor refused to comment on the matter.
