It’s an “epic” start to the placement season at the Delhi Technological University.
Six students of the institute have been offered annual packages of $105,000 (Rs. 60 lakh) by the US software firm EPIC.
Four of the students with the plum offers are from the DTU’s three-year-old software engineering department. The others are from the computer engineering department.
As many as 46 companies have visited the DTU, earlier the Delhi College of Engineering, for the placements since its academic session began on August 1.
PB Sharma, the vice-chancellor, feels the DTU’s “strong focus” on educational and research programmes has borne fruit. “The rise in the number of campus placements reflects the faith companies have in the DTU,” Sharma said.
Directi, a Mumbai-based software company, has offered four other students annual packages of Rs. 20 lakh.
“The companies that have come to the DTU so far include Facebook, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, Delloitte, Maruti, Oracle, Google and Brahmos Aerospace,” said Neeraj Nimwal, the placement officer at the institute.
For the first time, paid internships are up for grabs for third-year students.
“This will enhance the industry interface, prepare students for the technology challenges of the industries and in turn, shall assure even better pre-placement jobs offers for the students,” said Ruchika Malhotra, the institute spokesperson.
