Saturday witnessed yet another road cave-in in East Delhi. This one was barely two kilometres away from the spot where a cave-in took place on Friday morning.
The cave-in happened at the Mandir Marg crossing on road number 57 connecting Telco point near Anand Vihar Bus Terminus to Welcome Metro Station.
"When we reached the spot, we did not see any water. It was a big enough pothole," said B.S. Vohra, president of the East Delhi RWA Joint Front.
There is a Delhi Jal Board (DJB) water pipeline running under the road but the
officials are not sure about the reason.
R.K. Garg, member Water Works, DJB, said, "The reason for the cave-in has not been established as yet as there has been no investigation so far."
Public Works Department (PWD) has temporarily repaired the patch of the road and decided to wait and watch.
"If we find that there is no leakage at the spot, then tomorrow morning onwards we will carry out final road repair," said a PWD official.
Meanwhile, the DJB has started repairing the portion of the road that caved in on Vikas Marg on Friday morning.
The service road remained affected to a large extent while traffic movement continued on the unaffected portion of the main carriageway.
"The DJB work is going on and we hope some respite in the condition by tonight," said an official.
