The residents of Mahavir Enclave in Dwarka heaved a sigh of relief as power supply in the locality was finally restored after five days on Wednesday.
After HT reported about the plight of people living in the area — who were having a hard time due to power cuts lasting as much as 20 hours a day — the power supply was reinstated.
“At least now we can switch on the air-conditioner, which was lying useless. Now that the electricity is back, we have got the water supply too,” said Gautam Munshi.
“There was no electricity and not a drop of water in any household. We would throw away food items that got spoilt because the refrigerator was not working. Children had exams but because of the hot weather, they were not able to study,” said Moushumi Basu, a resident.
The overloaded transformers in the locality are catching up fire frequently, resulting in power cuts.
The BSES spokesperson maintained that they are ready to construct a transformer in the area but there is a conflict between the RWA members on the
allotment of land. “We can start work as soon as possible once they provide us the land,” he said.
