Chief minister Sheila Dikshit on Wednesday directed the DJB to ensure supply of drinking water for a period of at least one-and-half hours to all localities that fall in its network of piped water supply.
Calling for an emergency meeting of the DJB top rung, Dikshit also stressed upon the need of immediate complaint redressal and directed that complaint offices must be manned round-the-clock by senior-most officers.
Asking officials to observe zero tolerance on diversion of DJB’s water tankers, she threatened to dismiss employees responsible for violation of scheduled time frame of tanker deployment.
Dikshit asked the DJB CEO to come up with data on quality of drinking water daily and disseminate figures relating to samples tested to establish quality of drinking water.
“The power distribution companies have been told to provide power through alternative lines to all water treatment plants (WTPs) so that there is no disruption in generation of safe water,” Dikshit said.
She was informed that Haryana was supplying only 385 cusec water as against the stated 425 cusec to Haiderpur plant. “As a result the production at
Haiderpur plant has come down to about 192 MGD as against the normal production of 210 MGD,” a DJB official told her.
