The power crisis in Faridabad has made life difficult for residents for the last few days. Most areas are facing unscheduled power cuts running into seven to 10 hours.
Though officials claim to have been supplying maximum power to consumers, the situation on the ground is entirely different with people even craving for a drop of water due to erratic power supply.
For instance, the New Industrial Township (NIT), in Faridabad and Ballabgarh are areas where people are facing unscheduled load shedding.
The residents of Neighbourhood 4 (NH4) under NIT were the worst hit for the last few days. The humidity in the air has made the situation worse in the absence of the power supply.
Electricity supply remains for a few hours. It is the same situation in NH5 area and NH3 area. “For the last few days, the residents are being forced to sweat it out because of erratic power supply,” said HS Meena, general secretary of the Resident Welfare Association, NH4 adding, “It is extremely difficult to sleep during the night in the absence of power.”
The official version, however, baffles residents. “Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam and Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam supplied 1528.90 lakh units of power in a single day on June 22,” DP Dull, official spokesperson of DHBVN said. “The supply was 1211.57 lakh units on the same day, last year,” he said.
In Faridabad alone, against the demand of 195 lakh units per day, the supply has been about 140 to 150 lakh units per day.
A few days ago, superintending engineer of DHBVN, Subhash Deshwal, had said that, “The power crisis is due to local faults”.
