Jigisha’s father Jagannath Ghosh was alone in his daughter’s death. In his sixties, the retired health ministry official accompanied his daughter’s body to Rohtak in Haryana along with few policemen where a postmortem was conducted on Sunday.
Jigisha was found murdered in Faridabad on Saturday three days after she was abducted from below her Vasant Vihar home.
The Ghosh family has few relatives in the city and Jigisha was the only child, a neighbour said. Her mother is a retired teacher. “They moved here just three months ago and would normally keep to themselves,” a neighbour present at the Ghosh residence said.
Injuries on the face
The doctors, who conducted the postmortem, at PGIMS Hospital in Rohtak said her face had several injury marks.
“There were injury marks on her face and lips. As the body was highly decomposed, sexual assault could not be confirmed.
“Doubts on whether she was a victim of physical assault can only be ascertained after we receive the forensic reports,” a doctor said.
According to sources, the post mortem indicated smothering as the possible cause of death. The viscera and clothes of the deceased were sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory at Madhuban in Karnal for chemical analysis.
After the postmortem was conducted, her father cremated the body at Rohtak itself. Hair, nails and a bone for DNA finger printing was also included in the samples sent for FSL examination.
