Two Delhi Police districts squabbled over jurisdiction even as Joginder Sharma, a former player of the Indian cricket team, was admitted to a west Delhi hospital allegedly after getting injured in an accident on Thursday morning.
According to sources, Sharma has been admitted to the Balaji Action Hospital at Paschim Vihar in west Delhi.
Sharma has undergone a head surgery and his condition is said to be stable. Till Thursday evening, he was admitted in the ICU of the hospital.
The former cricketer met with the mishap at Dwarka More around 4am. He was allegedly driving on the wrong side when the incident took place.
“He was travelling in his Swift DZire car with one of his associates when the driver a speeding Tavera car, ferrying BPO employees from Gurgaon, suddenly applied brakes at a speed-breaker. As a result, Sharma’s vehicle hit the Tavera car from behind,” said a senior police official.
According to the police, Sharma and his associate have suffered several injuries. Initially, they were taken to a private nursing home. It was later that they were shifted to the hospital in Paschim Vihar.
However, while ACP (west) V Renganathan said his district had received no intimation about the incident, AK Ojha, DCP (southwest), claimed no such incident had taken place in his district at all. Both the vehicles have been impounded. A case has been registered.
