Vehicles will not be allowed to ply on the Surajkund Road in south Delhi during the day, for a period of nine days, beginning Tuesday. The Delhi Traffic Police have imposed this restriction due to shooting events being held at the Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range on the Surajkund Road.
Delhi Police say, the Surajkund Road, from the Mehrauli-Badarpur Road T-point to the roundabout at the Surajkund Mela ground, will remain closed for traffic from 6 am till the end of the last event scheduled for the day. “This is being done to facilitate movement of Games-related traffic to the stadium and for security reasons,” said Ajay Chadha, Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic).
“Delhiites should take Pul Prahlad Pur and Mathura Road as alternative routes for commuting from Faridabad to Delhi,” he added.
Though Delhiites weren’t fined for straying into the Games lanes on the opening day, the number of violators crossed 1,000 which added Rs 20 lakh to government coffers on Monday. htc
