The Delhi police have arrested six men who allegedly used to rob people to fund their luxury trips.

The accused had allegedly robbed a trader on January 10 in the Narela area of outer Delhi and had gone to Goa to enjoy a luxury trip.

“The arrested accused have been identified as Joginder, Vikas, Jayant, Naveen, Nitesh and Amit. We have recovered Rs 3.58 lakh, three stolen motorcycles, one car and one country-made pistol from them,” said BS Jaiswal, DCP (outer).

The arrests came following investigation in the robbery case, police said. On January 10, a trader Chutrabhuj Jain was allegedly robbed of Rs 5 lakh at gunpoint. “It was learnt that a group of youths from a local village had gone to Goa. A police team was sent there to locate them,” Jaiswal added.

Joginder and Vikas were the first to be apprehended.

They admitted that they along with four of their associates had carried out the crime.

“They told us that during the robbery three persons were on a bike, while the other three were travelling in a car. Naveen had beaten up the complainant and Nitesh had threatened him with a gun,” he said.

Police said the accused had robbed Jain of R5lakh and spend nearly Rs 1.5 lakh in Goa.

Police said most of the accused are school dropouts. They used to make rounds of banks and follow people carrying heavy cash. They are allegedly involved in five more such cases.
