The police said Afsar reached the PHQ in the morning. When he began trimming the grass in the lawns, a metal wire got stuck in the lawnmower blade.

Without switching off the machine, Afsar bent down to pull out the metal wire entangled in the blade. The moment he pulled out the wire, the blade started running and slit Afsar’s throat. He collapsed, bleeding profusely.

“He did not switch off the mower before he tried to pull out the wire. The sharp blades of the mower instantly cut his throat. It was an accident but we have initiated an inquiry into the matter,” a senior police officer said.

The security guards posted in the police headquarters rushed to help Afsar. They called an ambulance and took him to the hospital but he was declared dead on arrival.

“The initial finding suggest that the cut on his throat was deep and excessive blood loss resulted in his death. The cause of the death will, however, be ascertained after the autopsy report is out,” a police officer said. The police have accessed the CCTV footage from the cameras installed in the PHQ that captured the accident.
